The
Pemba Channel Fishing Club is recognised world-wide as a fishermen's
paradise and is situated in the tiny fishing village of Shimoni,
80kms south of Mombasa, enjoying stunning picturesque views over
the Indian Ocean and the neighbouring island of Wasini.
We
can accommodate a total of 20 guests in
the simple white bandas set in tropical gardens, with many trees
indigenous to the Shimoni area. Each banda has a small veranda -
all with sea views. The Clubhouse has an attractive, homely lounge
filled with wicker sofas and overstuffed cushions, with bowls of
shells and lots of fresh flowers.
Marlin
trophies and fishing photos adorn the walls. The entire atmosphere
is comfortable and friendly. There is a well-stocked bar and a superb
kitchen. There is a great camaraderie amongst the fishermen around
the very 'Hemingway-esque' bar at the end of the day. The reason
is quite simple; it provides the best fishing, drinking, socialising
and eating to be had locally.
Enjoy
sundowners on the steps overlooking the sea and stunning picturesque
coastal landscapes. Between the Clubhouse and the sea is a 25m swimming
pool filled with fresh desalinated water. It is also possible to
swim off the end of our jetty, where there are reputed to be at
least 44 different types of coral.
The Pemba Channel Fishing Club has long enjoyed an elevated reputation
as Africa's premier marlin destination and has attracted many illustrious
guests and friends including Billy Pate - one of the world's top
fly fisherman and holder of 110 fly records. Jeremy Paxman - indomitable
BBC 'Newsnight' presenter and Matt Hayes - the UK's most popular
fishing TV presenter.
Don't
forget a good hat, sunscreen and polarised sunglasses
